Today we paid a visit to Ministry of MSME at SMESCO, and met the Minister himself: Mr Maman Abdurrahman. We discussed seamless ways in MSME developments: building up, capability enhancement, consulting, certificates, and surely ending up in massive scale of commerce with well-prepared market (industries, public sectors, exports).

This week, I had the chance to attend a workshop in Bandung, part of the Entrepreneur Hub (EHUB) program organized by the Ministry MSME (KemenUMKM). The event, focusing on sociopreneurship, was opened by Siti Azizah, Deputy for Entrepreneurship, and Irwansyah Putra Panjaitan, Assistant Deputy for Business Ecosystem Development. The audience included social entrepreneurs, SMEs, and representatives from the West Java provincial government. It was an engaging session that shed light on how sociopreneurship is shaping the MSME economy.
Sociopreneurship is all about blending business strategies with a commitment to solving social problems. What makes it unique is that its performance is measured by the impact it creates on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Whether it’s tackling poverty, promoting education, or addressing environmental issues, sociopreneurship drives real-world solutions while building sustainable businesses.
On the regulatory side, the Indonesian government plays a vital role in creating policies that support the growth of these ventures, ensuring they thrive within a robust MSME ecosystem. Ultimately, sociopreneurship is a catalyst for economic and social empowerment, creating a ripple effect of positive change in communities.
Panel session at the IEEE TEMSCON 2024, presenting Marc Schlichtner as speaker, Robert Bierwolf as moderator, and Alexander Brem, Anna Tyshetskaya, and yours truly as panelists. The topic was “accelerating innovation for sustainable future”. We discussed the role of digital transformations in business & societal innovations, both in so-called developed & developing nations, maximising strategic collaborations to overcome the uncertainties, share capabilities & risks, gain market development momenta, and create optimal values through emergence effects of ecosystems. Again, an honour for me to be placed among the giants in Technology & Engineering Management world.
Today we carried out a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on the Direction of Digital Infrastructure Development in the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2025-2029. The forum was led by Director for Electricity, Telecommunications, and Informatics, of Bappenas, Dr Taufiq Hidayat Putra.
Bank Raya is a subsidiary of BRI that serves as the spearhead in BRI’s transformation to form a strong digital bank. One of BRI’s directives for Bank Raya is to grow with collaborations that are utilising the strength of state-owned enterprises or other national industries with leading capabilities in developing ecosystem-based digital platforms — which inevitably refers to the Telkom Group. After Bank Raya’s General Meeting of Shareholders, the Director of Agriculture & Financing of Bank Raya invited us to design a piloting collaboration of the ecosystem-based business developed by Telkom Indonesia that are requiring financing for the communities as the strongest elements of the ecosystems. We presented several ecosystems we are developing and some quick win plans with aligned with risk appetite of both corporates, to be expanded later into a more comprehensive transformation. The meeting was fruitful, expected to yield maximum results.

A BOD-level convo today between BGR’s Indra Iliana and Telkom’s Fajrin Rasyid, talking about the commitment for digitally-enabled logistics ecosystem development, where Telkom’s digital power will be used to develop the core platform, and BGR’s long experience in logistics operation will be advanced with the platform to enhance the logistics industry in Indonesia.
